Segway of Oakland Offers Polo Lessons & Training for Company Events

For the most unique event available, try Segway Polo. A Segway Polo event is tons of fun and so unique that nobody will ever forget it. For a limited time through June, book ten Segway units, with personnel, near Oakland's Jack London Square for only $1400.

Segway Polo is a relatively new sport that has advocates such as Steve Wozniak and George Clark who are dedicated because of the excitement and fun that the game provides. Segway Polo is played in a very similar manner to traditional polo horseback, but the horses are replaced by Segways. It is actually a much different game because the Segway adds a unique attribute that you can't get from any other activity. Steve Wozniak describes how it got started, "We started out trying to emulate horse polo and bike polo rules. Bit by bit we discovered things that worked, things that didn't."

This is a great way to learn and try a Segway while also having fun, and learning how Segway polo is conducted. Most people look at Segway Polo as being eccentric and too expensive yet Segways are well adapted to this kind of movement, so people get into it quickly and they dedicate the time and effort it takes. It is actually a lot cheaper than real polo, which requires very expensive horses and training.

Riding the Segway on a large grass field is a ton of fun, and it offers a venue where people can take it at their own speed. Segway of Oakland will generally train the group right from the beginning and culminate with at least one chukka of game play. But the course of the event can be catered to the group in question. Segway of Oakland provides ten units and personnel for training and conducting the event. Segway of Oakland will often rotate groups on the Segways while others in the group use the outdoor picnic facilities for food or other activities. Many groups use the Segway Polo in conjunction with a full day corporate event that involves as many company personnel as interested.

Any company or group in the Bay Area can give Segway of Oakland a call about Segway Polo events in Oakland this summer. For a limited time, Segway of Oakland is offering the basic Segway Polo package for $1400 which includes personnel, units, and gear for up to four hours of riding time and instruction. This unique event is one that is a cut above in terms of providing something memorable and fun.

Segway of Oakland Offers 2 for 1 Midweek Segway Tours and Lessons

Segway of Oakland is an official Segway Dealer that offers sales, repair and upgrade services, and lessons throughout the Bay Area. The Segway is tons of fun, but you need to learn to ride before you can operate a Segway. A Segway Tour or a Segway Lesson from Segway of Oakland is one of the best values in the business. And, with this two-for-one offer, an already great deal becomes even better.
The Segway PT is the world's only self-balancing two wheeled scooter. It is one of the world's smallest vehicles, and it is designed for close-quarters situations. Many people have seen Segways at malls and airports because they make it easier for Security to get around these types of buildings.
Yet the Segway is not only functional, it has a unique feel and balance that is really exhilarating. Learning to ride a Segway is not that difficult, but it takes a while to get a feel for the machine. The Segway has no brakes or accelerator, and instead it follows body movement. As you lean forward, it goes forward, and as you lean back it stops and reverses.
The movement of a Segway is similar to water-skis or snow-skis but it's a lot more stable and takes a lot less time to get a feel for it. But the action of a Segway makes it feel like you're gliding on a pair of skis. Yet, the motion is totally unique. It is like nothing else out there.
In Oakland, you can ride and learn on some of the best pathways in the Bay Area. Lake Merritt and Jack London Square provide excellent areas for Segway riding and despite Oakland's reputation in some circles, these are the best Segway riding paths in the Bay. Learn to ride a Segway for a lot cheaper than in San Francisco or Golden Gate Park, get more riding time, ride at higher speeds if desired, and have a greater range of pathways and terrain to have fun on a Segway.
Riding in Jack London Square and along the waterfront Bay trails are excellent options that provide scenic waterfront views on the Oakland Alameda estuary, with much less cars and foot traffic versus the San Francisco waterfront. More paths, and less street riding means a lot more freedom to ride.
And, you just can't beat it when it's less than half the price. Book now through the end of June and bring in a copy of this press release and learn to ride a Segway today.

Segway of Oakland Announces a Great Way to Save Money with a Segway

The Segway PT that Segway of Oakland sells is one of the most efficient vehicles in the world. It is small and transfers power perfectly to its wheels because of its self-balancing mechanism. Because it is small, efficient, and electric powered, it only takes about 25 cents to fill up completely, which gives about a 450 miles per gallon efficiency.

“One reason that you are actually seeing Segways more and more is because people are beginning to realize that only a Segway delivers the kind of efficiency that translates into 450 miles per gallon, said Darren Romar, Co-Owner of Segway of Oakland. “With a 25 mile range, the tiny Segway isn't really that far off from how far an electric car can go on a charge. They really are not that far off of what you get from a single charge in an electric car like the Chevy Volt or the Nissan Leaf. While both the Segway and electric car don’t have a super long range on a single charge, the Segway is far more efficient than the electric car.”

Romar continued, “Another big part of why Segways are being used more and more is because they are extremely fun to ride! A Segway zips along and you're having a blast! While practical and helps saves money, you’ll also have tons of fun along the way to your destination. It isn’t just a car where you just use it to go to work and go home (but you can choose to if you want), a Segway is fun like a sports car! A Segway will make you feel like you’re breezing by, like you’re skiing, or like you’re floating! Get a Segway and have some fun while saving yourself tons of money.”

Efficient and maneuverable, owners can even take their Segways on BART. That's where Segways are really unique compared to other vehicles. It's so small you can get a permit for Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) and you can take it onto the train! That makes for the world's most efficient system in terms of pure emissions and efficiency. The Segway is a tiny vehicle that provides far greater mobility than on foot and it's tons of fun. When you couple it with something like BART it really works to get people around.

Try a Segway today (by going on a tour with Segway of Oakland) and get a feel for the Segway. People can rent, go on the tour, or purchase a new or used Segway, to try for themselves. Equip the chosen Segway with accessories from Segway Inc. to make your ride even more fun and enjoyable. Segway of Oakland and Bay Area Segway Offers New Segway Lesson Options

Segway of Oakland is offering lessons to new riders, so hurry now! Hurry and call us now because we are the only Northern California dealer that offers onsite lessons and training, and also because learning to ride a Segway is easy and a lot of fun!
We are the only Dealer in Northern California that offers onsite lessons and training in addition to private onsite training for individuals as well as tours and training with guides. And since the vast majority of people don't know how to ride a Segway, the way most people experience their first Segway ride is through a tour or other guided rental. Segway tours almost always include a substantial amount of introduction and beginner level training.
Segway Tours that include training are available at several locations through Northern California as well as throughout the world. Recognizing that only a few people know the basics of how to operate a Segway, such as how to turn a Segway on, these Segway tours companies are really Segway training centers. However, many people still shy away from trying a Segway because there are not a lot of options for training. Generally people would need to go on a tour to learn how to ride a Segway, but that generally means training with a lot of other people which requires that them to learn it at the same speed as the group.
Segway tours are the most accessible way to learn to ride the Segway, and thankfully in the Bay Area there are many other options because of Segway of Oakland. Onsite training for businesses and agencies such as law enforcement agencies are available as well as onsite private training for individuals. For anyone needing or wanting private Segway riding instruction, Segway of Oakland has the most experienced personnel. Segway of Oakland can offer a wide range of Segway training services.
A lot of people prefer private instruction and may not be as interested in taking a tour. You can rent the Segway for a day or a week, and in a lot of cases, private lessons and instruction can be included as a part of the rental, so you can skip the tour and just focus in the lesson and the riding. Segway of Oakland even offers delivery and training at the event or location where you want to use the Segway, and they have both the wide tired Segway X2 and the narrow tired Segway i2.
We also offers the lowest priced guided lessons and tours at Jack London Square and Lake Merritt in Oakland. The pathways in Oakland are actually a lot freer of cars and congestion than in many other areas, and the routes at Jack London Square offer great views of the Bay and Estuary in one of the better parts of Oakland. The route is easier than at most other tour locations, and because it's right next to our warehouse in Oakland, you can get three hours of training and then riding time for only $65. Further, Segway of Oakland has special deals that allow new riders to get midweek training and rentals for as low as $35.
The only Segway dealer that offers this many training and lesson options is Segway of Oakland. We have been doing this specialized training for longer than just about anybody in Northern California. For anyone in the Bay Area wanting Segway lessons and or training, give us a call at 510-832-2429, and please be sure to visit our website at http://www.segwayofoakland.com. We introduce the easiest way to learn how to ride a Segway, so stop by our shop today and let us teach you how to ride a Segway!

Segway of Oakland’s New Bay Area Segway Rentals

Segways are for rent everywhere by tour companies and all kinds of tour operators that offer Segway tours and Lessons, but only a few dealers offer Segways just for rent. Now people can rent Segways from us, Segway of Oakland, for events or for daily, weekly, or monthly. It's the only place in the Bay Area where people can pick Segways up for rent, and now we also offer rental delivery anywhere in the Bay Area.
Renting a Segway is tons of fun. The Segway is the world's first self-balancing scooter, and riding one is very easy. However, because this vehicle is totally unique, it does take a little practice and a lesson from an experienced and trained Segway tour guide to help new riders get going. We offer one-on-one personal lessons that can help new riders get up and going on a Segway in no time at all.
“When you rent a Segway from us you get the original Segway PT,” said Steven Steinberg, Co-Owner of Segway of Oakland. “Our veteran staff can teach you to ride on site, or in just about any convenient place. The Segway is adaptable so once you get going you'll find that it can go over a lot of different kinds of surfaces.”

Steinberg continued, “We have both the wide tired, off-road X2, and the narrow tired I series Segway that is better for maneuvering through crowds. Our units have lean-steer technology, which means you lean back and forth to steer and turn. These are the newer Generation 2 units, and we also have some of the older Generation 1 series Segways that use the twist grip steering, which we offer at special requests.”

Weekends and holidays book quickly so it's recommended that anyone wanting to rent a Segway reserve their rental units ahead of time. The rates are $99 a day, $199 a week, $399 for two weeks, and $729 for a whole month. The rental process is very easy, and all we need is your driver’s license, a major credit card, and a signature for each Segway that you rent.

We also provide onsite private Segway lessons, so for anyone wanting to learn how to ride and would rather have private instruction, they will do that onsite as well (Bay Area only). For law enforcement enterprises and personnel, we even have special rental rates that are 25% lower on average, and we offer special training for law enforcement personnel.

Segway of Oakland and Bay Area Segway have been renting, selling, and servicing Segways for longer than just about anybody. For anyone wanting to learn how to ride a Segway or just to learn more about the Segway, or have ever become curious about the Segway, satisfy that curiosity today by calling Segway of Oakland at 888-8SEGWAY or 510-832-2429. Be sure to visit the Segway of Oakland website at http://www.segwayofoakland.com to learn more about Segways and the products and services that Segway of Oakland offers.

A New Segway PT gets the equivalent of 450 miles per gallon of Gas!

Just as the title says, a brand new Segway PT is Ultra-Efficient! It also gets the equivalent of 450 Miles Per Gallon of Gas so it is really great for the environment. A Segway is best for traveling around the city (it has a range of 25 miles and goes up to top speeds of 12.5 Miles Per Hour), and is great for recreational activities! The Segway is super small and it transfers power perfectly to the wheels because of its self-balancing mechanism. Nothing can match the ultra-efficiency of a Segway.

A Segway is a different kind of vehicle because it's a personal transporter. A personal transporter is an ultra-small vehicle that is not an alternative for a larger automobile but instead is meant for short distances. No doubt that a personal transporter does not have the same qualities of a larger vehicle in terms of what it does, but the ultra-small Segway has some serious advantages for short range transportation and that's one reason that Segways persist even though everybody thought they would just be a fad.
One reason that you are actually seeing Segways more and more is because people are beginning to realize that only a Segway delivers the kind of efficiency that translates into 450 miles per gallon. With a 25 mile range, the tiny Segway isn't really that far off from how far an electric car can go on a single charge. They really are not that far off of what you get from a single charge in a Chevy Volt, Nissan Leaf, or etc. Like the Segway, electric cars don't have a super range on a single charge, but they also don't have anywhere near the kind of efficiency that a Segway does.”
Part of having a vehicle that does any real good for the environment and when it comes to limiting emissions is the efficiency of the vehicle. Even electric vehicles that report fewer emissions uses electricity and the electricity have to be generated somewhere. A lot of electric power in the USA is generated by coal, which doesn’t really translate to fewer emissions because it requires the burning of coal. The way that electric vehicles reduce their emissions is partly due to their small size for a car, so in terms of size and efficiency, the Segway has it beat by a long shot.
A Segway takes about 25 cents to "fill up" which translates into about 450 miles per gallon. That's efficiency (mostly due to its small size and direct power transfer)! When you're getting 450 miles per gallon of gasoline, then you're really doing something for the planet.
A Segway is a powered vehicle, and although it's far from effortless, it has a motor, or rather motors. The Segway is designed as a super small, super-efficient powered vehicle and you can go 5 miles on it with about a 20th the effort it takes on foot. But because it's not a car, with a 25 miles range, the Segway is best to use for travel around the neighborhood or around the city. And because the Segway is only about as wide as a person’s own shoulders, the Segway is extremely maneuverable in crowds.
Another big part of a Segway is that it's fun. A Segway zips along and you're having a blast while you're getting 450 miles per gallon! A Segway is really like a Real Car in that it is fun! It isn’t like a four-door sedan where you just use it to go to work and go home (but you can choose to if you want), a Segway is fun like a sports car! A Segway will make you feel like you’re breezing by, like you’re skiing, or like you’re floating! Get a Segway and have some fun and get 450 miles per gallon.
Segway owners can even take their Segway on BART. That's where Segways really have something unique. It's so small you can get a permit for Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) and you can take it onto the train! That makes for the world's most efficient system in terms of pure emissions and efficiency. The Segway is a tiny vehicle that provides far greater mobility than on foot, and it's tons of fun, and when you couple it with something like BART it really works to get people around.
At our shop, Segway of Oakland, located in Oakland, California, we service Segways almost exclusively and we've serviced units from tour companies with newer models of Gen 2 Segways that have over 20,000 miles. The Segway is made in the USA and it’s built really well and lasts a really long time. So even though a Segway is still expensive in the short-run, it is very durable and reliable (and FUN), and it is super-efficient so it can even help save money in the long-run. We encourage people to try the Segway to get a feel for the Segway themselves, and we are also providing lessons on how to ride Segways, and are offering Segways for rent or for sale. We even have accessories that goes on your Segway straight from Segway Inc. for sale. As the longest term Segway service center in Northern California, bring your Segway to our shop and let us help keep your Segway running strong. Please  1-888-8SEGWAY and visit our website http://www.segwayofoakland.com to learn more about the Segway, the products and services we offer, and how you can be a Segway owner today!
